Our Procedures
As a Chameleon Painters client you should expect the following procedures:
1. Soon after your initial request you will hear back from our office to schedule a time for your projects on-site consultation and free estimate.
2. A Chameleon Painters project manager or team leader, arrives at your home or office to provide a project cost estimate at no cost to you and with no obligation.
3. If your project requires the professional services of a designer or other outside experts, multiple meetings may be required to review and refine the project to see how we best fit in.
4. A contract and payment schedule will be provided for your review. Typically, we use a payment schedule to define payments upon a scale of completed project phases. We operate this way to ensure that our clients will not need to pay up front for work that they have not seen completed. Smaller projects will not require a payment schedule.
5. A Chameleon Painters truck arrives to begin work! At this time effective communication between contractor, client, designer, etc. is crucial to our work flow and the timely completion of your project. Your Chameleon Painters project manager will be available and ready to answer any questions you may have, you may be asked to make quick, sometimes on the spot decisions regarding changes.
6. A final “review list” is created near the end of the project in which you and your project manager outline the last details required for the satisfactory completion of your job.
7. The job site is cleaned of construction debris and you move in to your new space!

Texturing and Repairs
In the Twin Cities the most common types of wall texture are "knockdown" "orange peel" and "crow's foot" each of these is used for sound deadening or most times, to simply hide an imperfect sheet rock taping job.
In Minneapolis, ceiling texture often matches the texture on walls, especially in houses built in the 60's to late 70's, and in many cases the ceilings have been sprayed with acoustic spray commonly known as POPCORN. This is POPCORN is a quick and cost effective way for the builder to finish a large ceiling but in our opinion leaves little to be desired! You may want to consider POPCORN TEXTURE Removal.
Our crews are experienced in matching these textures, and can repair most damaged areas to a sufficient match. Although care will be given to each repair it is just that, a repair is just that - a repair, and to that end, may vary from the original surface.
In addition to these common textures we complete many custom texture jobs each year. If you are interested in a custom texture we can create a sample board for your review. Today a "hand trowel" texture is often requested for many homes and offices. This texture is a spanish style and looks best with a cream bottom coat, and glazing topcoat. This combo is our most frequent faux finish and creates great beautiful warming effect.

Wallpaper Removal
Wallpaper removal is a task no one enjoys and perhaps one of the most unpleasant tasks in any remodel or update project!. !

At the time of your estimate we will make an evaluation of your walls and may recommend using a strong primer offer your wallpaper, instead of a full removal. Priming your walls is a cost effective solution but can only be used in situations where there is excellent adhesion of the existing paper.
Wallpaper removal is labor intensive and may cause damage to the walls. We are always prepared for this situation and will repair the walls accordingly. Alternatively you can texture over wallpaper after priming.
Once the wallpaper is off of the walls they must be washed with water and soap, and then rinsed to remove the glue residue. If there is any residue remaining it will react with the paint and may cause discoloration, peeling, and cracking and long term problems

Scheduling Your Project
If you are ready to begin work here is what to do.
Call the Chameleon Painting office with a copy of your estimate handy.
You should know that our production schedule is usually 2 weeks ahead of the current date. So if you would like to begin work on the 15th of the month, you should notify us on or before the 1st.
If there are color choices to be made, we ask that you have these emailed, called in or faxed to our office within a week of the project start date.
In cases of inclement weather, we must remain flexible in order to ensure that your project is properly completed. Rain and summer humidity are the primary causes of delays on job completion.
We will provide you a specific start and finish date. However we will always take the time necessary to complete the job properly and never rush our tradesmen or cut corners to finish on schedule
